PEN America's Navigating Tense Moments workshop series equips faculty This comprehensive, interactive session is the core of PEN America'’'s "Campus for All" workshops. During the workshop led by a PEN America facilitator, participants will:

  • Lay a strong foundation for the legal framework of the First Amendment, principles of free speech and academic freedom, and unprotected speech such as harassment or threats.

  • Learn approaches for supporting a hospitable environment for free speech, academic freedom, and inclusive community in tandem on campus.

  • Link free speech and academic freedom directly to the unique mission and goals of higher education.
